Okay. Now that I’ve pitched this in third person, I’m back. I’m here. Koach Kat is a new mentorship program I’m offering to accelerate your growth. Introducing a career program for young graduate and professionals.

Having the career I have now has been a series of career-growth tactics. I didn’t get to where I am at random, or solely because of hard work. It’s taken years of being very smart as to how I seek opportunities. I’m excited to be offering those back to you! Check out the video below or Koach Kat on here, for more!

Not Another Coach! Here’s How I Came Around to Believing in Career Coaching, Enough to Become One.

I had my reservations. As I saw life coach after career coach pop up on my LinkedIn, Instagram, Forbes, I didn’t truly understand. I saw people who were coaching others with no success or real experience of their own and I thought “who are they to coach?”.

The thing about careers is, mentors are not easy to find, and similarly, career counsellors at work aren’t always the best at navigating individual’s personal paths for a multitude of reasons (i.e. they’re assigned, not always incentivized to support you, etc.). I thought about the many stages of my own career - from how it felt to be an actress debating whether to go into the business world, being an undergrad at McGill with a decade of experience in the arts not able to get internships in her first year, or my move consulting to corporate VC. It was quite clear that I would have benefitted from someone asking me the right questions to clear my worries, and plan against my fear.

Career coaching isn’t always about someone’s experience - though I do suggest hiring someone whose career you respect and hope to somewhat emulate. If not, it could be a skill you wish you acquire. Maybe your career coach knows how to network incredibly well and you don’t. Perhaps they’ve developed their own niche and it’s an unknown space you hope to work in someday. Ultimately, career coaching is more so about the art of supporting and openly teaching a set of skills using personalized frameworks.
