Sitting Down with Steph Hon, Founder of Travel & Wellness Startup, Cadence
I had the pleasure of meeting Steph Hon, the founder of Cadence, a pre-seed startup helping travelers keep up with their beauty routines while on the road, just a couple of months ago.
Cadence offers leakproof, sustainable, and personalized refillable capsules designed so you can move more freely with your products.
As Steph Hon disrupts the travel and beauty industry in sustainable ways, I could not be more excited for her to step into the light of leadership. Managing her team, launching in a fragmented market and doing it all in New York City, cannot be more difficult.
In the interview below, I ask Steph about what’s its been like to come up with Cadence - ideation to execution - the source of her inspiration and more.
I also show her my really gross makeup bag, haha. Hence, the need for her capsules!
This Pre-Seed Startup is Helping Sustainable Travelers Keep Up With Their Beauty Routines
Femstreet, a community of entrepreneurs and women in venture capital, hosted a meetup at Templafy’s New York offices. After speaking to a few VCs, I naturally found myself by the snack table. A tall slender woman chatted me up. She was very distinct than many of the people I had been meeting in the past few years at networking events. Calm, collected but passionate. Entrepreneur!
As I told her about my former career in Management Consulting where I traveled Mon-Thurs for 2.5 years, she quickly asked about my packing experience, taking out hexagonal prisms in neutral colours. I told her of how many times I forgot to pack my shampoos, conditioners, makeup remover and terrible skin rashes I got after using hotel creams. We laughed about the times my liquids spilled or the disgusting ziploc bags I used to seal them. Five makeup bags later, I had given up.
Steph’s hexagonal prisms were more than beautiful containers. She explained that all my pain points would be solved with her products.
Cadence offers leakproof, sustainable, and personalized refillable capsules designed so you can move more freely with your [insert liquids].
While it will be interesting to understand how the team will bootstrap and finance production, from a consumer lens though, founder of Cadence, Steph Hon, is right on the moneed. Not a typo…Sustainable containers that are beautifully designed, capable of monogramming, light for packing, and magnetic caps so you don’t lose them…What more can you ask for?
I’m in.
Growth Architects are the jack of all trades. Terminal’s Director of Growth knows this all too well. She’s the woman who, once upon a time, was responsible for Vine’s growth, and entered the world of VC.
