Public Goods: A Public Review
Ecomm is being invaded by sustainable market players. From rising CACs and seemingly more educated consumers, a generic brand paired with VC money isn’t enough anymore. Here’s my view on why Public Goods appeals to me.
I ordered the ‘Treat Her Right’ Set and Fell In Love With the Lavender Oil. I Sleep Like a Queen.
Sleep Like A Queen
I don’t know what queens sleep like but if they have magical potions like vegan and organic lavender oils, then I got this treatment with Public Goods. brands will often greenwash and heavily market their products as sustainable, vegan, non-GMO, and similar. Ingredients are key, and so is the actual trial period.
Lavender Oil
The lavender oil was the best seller in my opinion. It’s clear that their products are clean given the smell and ease on one’s skin. I added 3 drops using the dropper to my pillow and had one of the best sleeps in a long time.
Body Lotion
This one doesn’t smell like much - at first. I used it as a body night serum and to my surprise, it grew on me. I easily get eczema so I make sure to not try new products, especially ones on my sensitive skin. Because of the healthy and organic ingredients, I thought to risk it. Pleasantly surprised! It’s not as dewy as I would have wanted it to be but still quite good for the affordable price.
The Sets
As described in the video, I do recommend going for a set that is more cohesive, in terms of use. I wanted to try different products and ‘Treat Her Right’ is a good one for this. I can’t say I would purchase this set again, though. I would prefer to get my favorite products and personalize my own package. For instance, a ‘Sleep’ or ‘Night-Time’ package. For this, I’d include all of the oils (Eucalyptus please!), the body lotion and a couple of the other more timely items. While it’s more expensive for Public Goods to do this, it would be a personalization exercise with what I believe, greater ROI potential.

I wanted to make a video to chat about Athena Club. I normally don't do beauty hauls because I have incredibly sensitive skin but their products are non-toxic, fully recyclable, and vitamin-rich so...why not. Really happy I did. Featured products are:
