Come to NYFW Week With Me: Behind-the-Scenes of 'The Shows' 2019

I always attribute Fashion Week to Sex and the City’s Samantha. You know, that moment when she’s leaving Mercedes Benz Fashion Week and anti-fur protest strolls around and this lady throws red paint on her white-fur jacket screaming “MURDER, MURDEEEERRR”. Samantha’s response is priceless as she says, with a smile on her face: “God, I miss New York”.

I’ve been graced with going to New York Fashion Week three times now. I’m always super impressed with the industry even though I also feel completely out of place. Instead of making this about my experience, however, I’d like to make it about the designers I got a chance to see. If you really do want to see what I wore to NYFW, check out this article.

NYFW SHOW ONE: Australian Designers

Location: Pier Studios

  1. Sonya Swim

Sonya Swim was one of my favourite designers at fashion week…of all time…

I know. Big statement. Their pieces flowed beautifully, and ready to wear. With Zimmerman vibes et al., I was able to enjoy the flow of gorgeous fabrics, fun hats and tropical accessories. There’s something about resort wear that resonates quite well with me and perhaps its because it reminds me of Colombia or good vacation times. Sonya Swim was all about white and black, which could have fallen flat, but luckily, that was far from the case.

2. House of Campbell

I live in business clothes so at first glance, I can’t say I was too excited when I saw suits come down floral business shirts come down the runway. House of Campbell surprised me though. It reminded me that corporate wear can be fun! I loved their grey suit and combination of baby pink accents. For the time being, I’ll probably not be shopping any more business wear given my closet is full of it but…if I were in the market for something different I can wear at work, I wouldn’t hesitate to give House of Campbell a shot!

3. Made With Love

Made with love.

Enough said.

Because I’ve searched up their collection so many times, I am now being retargeted from many different bridal shops, hah! I loved their dresses as their runway show. Which one is your favourite dress? Comment below!

My personal favourite is the “River” dress.
