An Introduction to The Corporate Diary
Welcome to The Corporate Diary
Introducing a video & article blog series where I interview women in male-dominated fields while alluding to my own corporate journey as a woman minority in Corporate America.
The Time is Now: The Need for a ‘Business’ Channel
I started my YouTube channel in 2007. At the time, the platform was a place where the majority of creators filmed themselves singing with their 240p resolution generating webcams, while the other content geared towards women was makeup tutorials or fashion hauls.
I took a break from YouTube when I was in business school. As I learned about Finance, Information Systems and Marketing, it dawned on me that there was no aspirational place on the internet to truly get the ins and outs to my questions. My guy friends looked to their brothers, fathers, and network. If not, they’d look to the movies painting Wall Street as a place for ambitious men. When it came time for women to aspire to investment banking, strategy consulting or similar, they had limited places to go to - even the internet.
Education through “Diary Entries”
The Corporate Diary will feature videos and articles as “diary entries” to help undergrads and young professionals get the answers to their questions regarding business education. From what majors or minors to take, navigating university and the key learnings and opportunities to possible career paths.
Interviews
The Corporate Diary will feature interviews with young women killing it in their respective corporate and male-dominated fields. From investment bankers to women excelling in the gaming industry, and more, viewers will get the inside scoop on successful female stories.
Personal Journey
As a minority woman, I’ll be taking viewers through my own personal journey while navigating management consulting and working for Fortune 100 clients.
Video & Blog?
The Corporate Diary will be a video-based series on my YouTube channel. I’ll have interviews, personal vlogs and how-to videos on all things business.
Some videos will have accompanying articles on this website (katgarciaonline.com/thecorporatediary), while some articles may not have a video at all. Ultimately, you may see a lot of opinion pieces on "The Corporate Diary" blog but not to worry, it's just some critical thinking.
